  3. Perhaps it would be more proper to use life expectancy at 15 years old instead life expectancy at birth.

  4. It depends on whether you want to look just at the correlation between smoking and life expectancy for adults, or include potential effects of passive smoking on children. But sure, it would be interesting to run a test also with adult life expectancy and compare the results.
