When the French actor Gérard Depardieu decided to leave his motherland and move to Belgium because of the tax hikes, he said: “Despite my excesses, my appetite and my love for life, I am a free man.”
Sadly, the same cannot be said for the vast majority of the people living in Russia – the country where Mr Depardieu was recently granted citizenship. Mr Depardieu renounced his French citizenship in protest of the lack of economic freedom in France. Now we will be patiently waiting for him to renounce his Russian citizenship in protest of the lack of political freedom in Russia.
